Dear Educator:
Not only does the arrival of fall signify the start of a new school year, but it also signifies another West Virginia Pumpkin Festival. With that in mind, we would like to extend to you and your students an invitation to join us for the 37th annual West Virginia Pumpkin Festival “School Days” on either October 5th or 6th, 2023.
The “School Days” activities are designed with your students in mind and will be presented during the regular school day on Thursday and Friday of the Festival. These activities are designed to cover educational criteria which will help meet your county requirements for curricular field trips.
We offer special pricing for your students and chaperones in order to make this event affordable. Student pricing is $2.00 per student. Teachers, Aides, and Bus Drivers are admitted free. All other tickets are $5.00 until noon. Included with the price of student admission is a small pumpkin that each student will receive at the end of the day as they leave to return to school.
Regardless of the grade-level of your students, there are numerous age-appropriate activities and events to educate and entertain everyone. Some of the activities being planned for this year’s School Days include:
Living History Encampment
Blacksmith
Heroes 4 Higher
The Quack Pack Show
The Living Statue
The Rubber Chicken Show
Mr. Puppet
Operation Lifesaver
Pumpkin Park Gift Shop
Arts & Crafts Vendors
Commercial Exhibits
Concessionaires
Please share this with all of your teachers. To assist us, we ask that each teacher that is planning on visiting, to please email us at WVPFSchoolDays@gmail.com with the contact name, name of the school, contact information, number of students, grade levels and which day they plan to attend. This will allow us to be better prepared for their arrival and to ensure that we have enough pumpkins for all the students.
The West Virginia Pumpkin Festival is excited to offer this opportunity to your students and faculty. We look forward to having you with us on either October 5th or 6th, 2023.
Respectfully,
Susan Runion
WVPF School Days Committee Chair
